Arsenal move for Jadson

So Cesc and Nasri both look set to complete their transfers to Barcelona and Man City respectively by the weekend. Well that was according to BBC's correspondent Dan Roan.


I'll be glad to see the back of all the Cesc saga regarding his transfer, but I certainly won't be glad to see the back of Cesc. You just have to look at the little details to realise how stupid the move is. Carroll going to Liverpool for £35 million, Kaka going to Real for more than Cesc+Nasri are leaving, and the mind blowing fact that Nasri at City could be earning twice what Cesc does at Barcelona.


As a club though, Arsenal have sold big players before and recovered admirably just as we will now. And As we look to find replacements for the outgoing pair, L'Equipe have said we've moved to Jadson. Another small attacking midfielder yes, but he has looked very good for Brazil and Shakthar over the last few years. Last season he scored 8 goals in 38 appearances.

Whether he could settle straight into the team as a direct replacement for either of the pair is yet to be seen though. The step up from the Ukrainian league to the Premier League is massive, and he'd need at least 6 months probably. Another name linked is Alan Dzagoev, but personally I'd rather Hazard, Mata, Gotze or someone. Although Hazard and Gotze both seem unlikely to leave this summer.


We will also use some of the 60 million we get a defender - or two - and yesterday we were met with news of an impending bid for Scott Dann. Dann is not the ideal person to sort out our defence, he is a decent defender but we want more than that. Dann is probably our 3rd or 4th choice in that position and may not even sign if we sort out deals for Cahill or Jagielka.


Over the international break, we don't seem too badly affected yet. Ramsey suffered a knock, but will hopefully be available, whist Gervinho came out unscathed after scoring 2 goals. Hopefully he can continue that form he's had in pre season right through the campaign.


On a final note, an interesting read from the Mirror as Gary Neville actually talks some sense! The main quote i can gather from it is:

"Arsene Wenger is still doing an excellent job."

 If Gary Neville of all people still has trust in Arsene, us fans should too.

Should we move for Odemwingie

As bright Irish forward Shane Long is about to complete his 8 million pound transfer to West Brom, is now an appropriate time to make a move for Peter Odemwingie?

We have been linked to the pacey Nigerian on occasions throughout the summer, and after scoring 15 goals in his debut season, he would be excellent back up for Robin Van Persie.


Since Odemwingie only has one year left on his contract - although West Brom have the option to extent it for another year - he would be available at a cut down price.


Although he is verging on 30 years of age, the Nigerian will bring plenty of experience to our young squad, and he boasts an impressive goals to game ratio at all of his previous clubs.


His pace is enough to threaten any teams defence, as Arsenal found out on multiple occasions last season, and I think he'll be great back up maybe even better than Chamakh who looks completely off the boil.

Chamberlain Undergoes Medical

After waiting so long for another signing after Gervinho, it seems that we are concluding another one this morning. Although he's not the defender we've been craving for, the versatile attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will still be a great signing for us.

As reported earlier today by ESPN and now by Sky Sports, Chamberlain is currently undergoing his medical right now at London Colney and will be an Arsenal player shortly, signing for a fee around 12 million pounds form Southampton.


The fee is expensive for any player of that age, especially one only proved in League One, but less than half of that sum will be paid this year, with much of it coming in instalments. Similar to Theo's deal.


Arsenal have stepped in to get him before United, who have been monitoring him for a while, and after Liverpool had their own bid rejected to sign the 18 year old. He was highly sought after and is seen as one of England's brightest prospects at the moment.


Having scored 10 goals and getting 9 assists last year from midfield, Chamberlain was clearly too good for the league last season, and will be in the first team if he joins. He may only play the odd Carling Cup match, but will be good cover during the African Cup of Nations.


A signing is a signing & we can only hope for the defender shortly.
