However, i'd much rather spend £12 million [which weirdly Wenger seems reluctant to hand over to Blackburn, but seems quite happy to spend the same or even more on Jagielka] on big Chris Samba. Big, dominant in the air, a leader and knows how to win dirty. EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED.Craig Playerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03690766087644362809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5192492447508476378.post-71923691850096725102011-07-29T05:19:23.887-07:002011-07-29T05:19:23.887-07:00guyhannah123

That's why ideally we'd have signed him before pre-season so he can adapt to the way or team plays. I think he could adapt to our style though as he is very intelligent and has deceptive pace too.
I agree Jagielka better player, but he's too similar to what we have at the moment, Cahill offers something different and seems like the final piece in the puzzle.

Stevo

Fabregas is a leader for Arsenal, but not the archetypal British leader like Adams was. He does have some weaknesses being captain, but he leads by example and is highly respected among the players. We are lacking someone who does the shouting and organizes our defence but I think Vermaelen and any of the CB's we sign (Cahill, Samba or Jagielka) will help us in that regard immensely. Samba is a good player, but would be very risky signing and personally I don't rate him as highly as these two defenders.WillJoneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02369258311719447510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5192492447508476378.post-34101390432932962852011-07-29T04:47:54.582-07:002011-07-29T04:47:54.582-07:00I would argue that Fabregas is not a true leader, ...I would argue that Fabregas is not a true leader, and what we have been lacking is a Tony Adams. A true leader who issues commands and takes charge. I agree that we need a centre back, and your stats tell me that Samba might be the better option?Stevohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04954762032606454645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5192492447508476378.post-51846969294774184202011-07-29T04:41:22.124-07:002011-07-29T04:41:22.124-07:00Cahill I do not rate. The biggest came of his career arguably was against Stoke in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley where they lost 5-0 and Cahill was one of the worst performers. Arsenal need players that can perform at the very highest level, in cup finals, title deciders and european away games. Cahill also cannot play high up the pitch, Botlon play very deepAdefensively and that suits Cahill but with Arsenal pressing high up the pitch he is just not athletic or clever enough to have the positioning or the recovery for a ball over the top. Jagielka is the better of the two, but neither would start for me.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01939107070598944726noreply@blogger.com
